We offer a sharpening service that includes local pick up and drop off.
We are based in Bisley Village. For local Surrey Heath villages, there is a minimum charge of £28 for sharpening to offset the cost of pick up and drop off service. Knives, Workshop tools and Garden tools can be combined in one batch to cover the minimum charge. Consider sharing the cost with a friend or neighbour if you don’t need a lot of sharpening done at one time.
If your location is further away, please call us as we can arrange pick up and delivery at a fair price. We can also provide door to door courier service through DPD at a slight extra cost.
Typically, turn around time for service is 48 hours or less. This can change during busy times such as Christmas. Please call us in advance to discuss the state of our backlog.
Sharpening methods depend on the item. We have a full collection of machines, stones and jigs which allow us to sharpen virtually anything. Often, a combination of tools and methods yield the best results. We use, aluminium oxide, diamond, and silicon oxide abrasives as required.
Along with machines, we have a collection of different leather hones with various diamond compounds to get edges very sharp. We also like Japanese Water stones and have an extensive range between 220 and 10,000 grit. We are adding new equipment constantly in order to optimise the sharpening process. We do our best to keep up with new innovations such as 3M Cubitron and TriZact abrasive belts for our grinders.
We repair small chips, scratches and other blemishes free of charge as part of the sharpening service. For more serious chips, please call us to discuss your needs and a obtain a cost estimate.
We sharpen virtually all kinds of kitchen knives and garden tools. We also sharpen scissors and pinking shears. Heirloom sewing scissors will always outperform new ones so we like to keep these in service.
We currently do not sharpen hair salon shears or pet grooming shears as specialised training and equipment are required.
Please call us to discuss any specialised item you have that may benefit from our services.

Pans
We can restore your cast iron or carbon steel pan by stripping out the old residue, polishing and re-seasoning with oil. We love these pans but realise that too much built up residue can actually impair their efficiency. Our process works on bare metal and not enamelled pans. Gas burners cause a build up on the bottom of the pan, reducing heat transfer and heavy usage can cause a thick carbon build up on the cooking surface. Woks are slightly different, but they can benefit from a thorough cleaning and re-seasoning as well.
